Dear Mr. Goldberg Good evening. My name is Aaron Tirschwell and I represent the Friends of Israel Fire and Rescue Services. Established as a non-profit organization in March 2003, the Friends of the Fire and Rescue Services meets the challenge of outfitting Israel’s firefighters with the state-of-the-art equipment and facilities they need to continue performing their job of protecting and saving the lives of Israel’s citizens. With the decline in Israel’s economic situation and the government’s significant across-the-board budget cuts, Israel’s Fire and Rescue Services is suffering financially. At the same time, the increased terror attacks and the constant state of high alert that the workers maintain has significantly increased the need for appropriate emergency equipment. As part of our fundraising and awareness events here in the United States, The Friends of Israel Fire and Rescue Services was supposed to have 3 fire engines in Sunday's salute to Israel Parade in New York City - they were to represent three engines that already have been donated (the funds, that is). While we have permission from the parade to include the engines, all of our efforts to get three engines just to show up to the parade have not come to fruition. Therefore, I am asking you for the following: a) Is there a way that Teaneck can loan us an engine (and a driver) for the day? and b) Assuming I get engines from Bergen County's training facility, I need drivers who live in Bergen Cty. and are licensed to drive fire engines - any input on either of these? Please contact me at your earliest convenience - 973.766.5960 - I thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

Great web site! Box 690 serves Waterloo Region (25 stations). Established in 1988, we do 75 to 100 runs per year. We have converted a de-comissioned rescue into a field kitchen with the support of Kitchener, Waterloo, and Cambridge FDs, the full timers in our coverage area. Kindest Regards, WAM

Great site guys. Keep up the great work. I am President of BOX 690 FD Canteen in Waterloo County, about an hour west of Toronto. We just inherited a 1982 International diesel, with 16 foot walk in box last year. It replaced a 1978 GMC van which we used from 1995 to 2002. We have been averaging a just over 100 runs per year. We have had a fairly quiet year this year, down 40 calls from the same time last year. Unfortunately we had an arson fire in a building under demolition, and a fatal apartment fire on the weekend. Keep up the good work, I know how rewarding the job is that we do.

Thank you for all you do.My son is a FF/Paramedic & I worked rehab for 9 years. There is a great feeling of accomplishment when one works a fire in 100 degree heat & no FF goes down due to dehydration. There isn't much glory in rehab because it requires a lot of sweat & hard work, but is worth every minute of the effort. Again, thanks to all of you.

I an a retired Lieut. from the Teaneck Police Dept (1949-1987) and I can recall the very first rig Box 54 had. If I recall correctly it was a step van donated by UPS. The one name that comes to mind is Henry Forest who was there. in the begining also Teaneck Auto Body who did a lot of alterations for Box 54 over the years. Keep it rolling. Bill Plusch
